Deed transfer to children-Land NOT in US

Hello..I am a land owner of 1 acre in Lucaya Estates, Freeport, Bahamas-Unit 22, It was bought in 1972. I want to transfer the deed to into my childrens names. I am told I need a attorney from the Bahamas to do so. My ex-wife lives in Florida and I live in NJ. She has the deed and the property is paid for. How do we go about this and do you know what is a approx. charge for this is. Is this a big long drawn out ordeal?..Thank You

You can check Bahamian attorneys at martindalehubbell.com and e-mail them the question. Special forms might be required under Bahamian law which can be provided best by a local attorney. This should not be too expensive and should include thew recording fees. You also might consider inquring of a local title company to see if they have a Bahamian affiliate who can assist you.
