Legal Question in Disability Law in California

ADA and Homeowner's Assn Board

Our HOA has two board members who have, since being elected, suffered medical problems. One requires oxygen (a portable tank) and the other, having suffered a heart attack and several strokes, is unable to hear, so requires someone to reiterate every word spoken to him. We, the homeowners, have been advised that due to the ADA, we, the homeowners, are responsible to pay for the portable oxygen and the translator. Is this accurate?

Re: ADA and Homeowner's Assn Board

No way. If he is charging such expenses, it is probably improper. Contact a local attorney to determine what steps to take now.
