Legal Question in Appeals and Writs in California

tolling appeals deadling for pro per prisoners

termination sanctions was the judgement from a superior court dept. 53 in sacramento because of my inability to file a timely response to a court ordered motion to compel discovery. at the time of the order i was in state prison. i was unable to properly respond. after i was released i filed a notice to appeal with dept 53 but failed to file supporting documents. i was subsequently placed into state prison and was unable to meet a 180 day filing deadline with court of appeals. Since i was in custody does that toll the appeals deadline? please help. I am Pro Per. Case No. 03ASO4117 --name removed--v. Balasa.
