Legal Question in Banking Law in California

bank of america check

i received a check for 2800.00dollars made out to me,from bank of america, delivered overnite mail, with nothing in the envelope but the check and a strip of paper saying to check my email for more info. i checked my email and found nothing. called bofa and confirmed that the check is real. may i cash it? i have no idea who it is from. thank u diana

It is bogus. Do not cash it. Even if the bank offers to give you money for it.
