Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

Bankruptcy Trustee??

I would like to know what level of education you need to become a bankruptcy trustee? Do you need to pass the CA bar? Is a law degree sufficient? What do they do? They negotiate bankruptcy, but who do they correspond with (other attorneys, judges, creditors)? Where can I find information to answer these questions?

Thank you.

Re: Bankruptcy Trustee??

Most Chapter 7 trustees do not have a law degree. Most, if not all Chapter 11,12, and 13 trustees do. You should direct your questions to a chapter 7 trustee or to the United States Trustee's Office as they would be in the best position to answer your questions. You can get a list of phone numbers of the trustees in your area from the Bankruptcy Court Clerk's Office.

Re: Bankruptcy Trustee??

There are not actually any Chapter 11 "trustees". Instead, a person is appointed to assist in the administration of the estate.
