Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

hot to get $$$ from a person that just claimed bankruptcy?

i loaned a now x-friend a huge amt of money (9-2005). he agreed to pay it back on 9-2006. i asked him for it in 2-2007, he said we would work it out. i didn't hear anything from him in 3 months, so in 5-2007, i have him served. he did not acknowledge nor respond.

court date was 9-2007,neither he nor an attorney showed. i was awarded the judgment that he did indeed owe me. my attorney put a lien on his property. In 9-2008, my lawyer got a letter from his lawyer saying the the x-friend had declared personal bankruptcy. now what? i am shown as a creditor.

he has a history of this kind of nonsense and hides money and businesses.

help. it is $50k. my lawyer doesn't seem too active or interested.

You didn't say what kind of bankruptcy he had filed. Unless your superior court judgment was for fraud, or unless you can provide the trustee with evidence of hidden assets, you might be out of luck. You should talk with an attorney in your area who practices in this specialized area. It might be worth your while.
