Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

4th of July at Newport Beach. I have been charged with Giving out a False Information to PO, Misdemeanor. Stopped for open bottle walking on street. Officer asked for personal info and after a fake name was ran through police check, the officer arrested me and took me to jail. I have a court date set for a month from now. I am unsure of what to do from then on... I know what I did was wrong. I was foolish for thinking I can get out of a ticket by giving a fake name and now the situation is much worse. Was not intoxicated at the time and am 21 years old. Thank you for your time...

You recognize you screwed up. Now your attorney will try to minimize the legal 'pain' you could suffer.

When arrested or charged with any crime, the proper questions are, can any evidence obtained in a test, search or confession be used against you, can you be convicted, and what can you do? While this isn't a 'capital case', you certainly face fines and potential jail, so handle it right. If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, program, or other decent outcome through plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate.

If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight the criminal charges and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses there may be.
