Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

An old friend of mine just came by my house and told me he is taking me to court in 30 days for a small claims of 1500 he overpaid me for a job I did on his house 5 years ago. Is this legit? Can he come after me for money from 5 years ago? Dont you only have like a year to file a small claims?

Two years is the statute of limitation. Anyone can sue for anything. You'd have to raise the statute of limitation as a defense when and if he sues you.
