Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in California

Subdivision Gate Code

I live in a subdivision with 7 other homeowners. Prior to purchasing my house, the homeowner's assoc. had decided not to give gate codes to owners. only contractors (gardeners, pool maint, UPS, and other delivery companies) have gate code.

All owners must use a remote control to open the gate.

This has cause significant problem for me as a single person who travels frequently, i often have to send people to my house. but i can't get them in to the subdivision in emergency situations. sometimes i do not travel with a remote control so I have to find other ways to get thru the gate.

what legal recourse do i have to force them to give me a gate code?

recent incidents have caused me a lot of undue stress because i was not able to get someone into my house.
