Is it legal to run original copy of Mac Os X on non-Apple-branded cpmpuers

If you paid for the copy, it is not a violation of copyright law. It is probably a violation of the "shrink wrap license agreement" that most commercial software developers attach to their products. I don't think much of "shrink wrap license agreements," but Apple has lots of money and lawyers and they could crush you like a bug if they wanted to. Probably they won't unless you were to attempt to sell Mac clones.
