Legal Question in Constitutional Law in California

Fired from Job

I would like to know if a Retail Employer can dictate who you can and cannot live with. A friend of mine was just fired when the company he works for found out that he was sharing an apartment with a fellow employee for the same company, even though it states as a condition of his employment that he cannot. Hasn't his Constitutional Rights been violated?

Re: Fired from Job

It's a condition of employment that you can't room with another employee??!? Did they really give that as the reason? In general an employer can't dictate your lawful off-the-job behavior unless there's a good reason (you two are security guards who patrol the same store?) If you two are, you know.... sexual orientation discrimination is also illegal.
