Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

In California.....I wish to marry a woman with some outstanding debts.I have good credit and want to keep mine separate from hers. Also, I don't want to be responsible for any of her bills in the future,in the event something was to happen to her.Is this possible or do I automatically assume her credit flaws and responsibilities?

In California, debts incurred before or during marriage are considered "community" debts. If you do not want to become responsible for your future spouse's debts, you will need to have a prenuptual agreement drafted (preferably by an attorney with experience in family law).
