Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

co-signor's obligation

In 1998, I co-signed for my daughter to get an apartment. There was no problems until we had a falling out in January,2000 for other reasons and I notified the landlord in writing that I was terminating my co-signer agreement regarding her tenancy with them. A couple of months later, She lost her job and was evicted leaving over $600.00 in damages and back rent owed to the landlord. They aren't able to recover the money from her and now they're demanding re-imbursement of those funds from me.

Can they ignore my termination and get me to pay from my daughter's fraud?
