Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I am a court reporter and I filed a lawsuit against a court reporting agency that hadn't paid me for depositions done in February of 2011. She finally decided to address me 2 days before the day we have to go to court and I decided to settle with her for an amount slightly less than what she owed me but more than she was trying to pay me to avoid having to go to court because the court house is an hour away and I'd have to get a babysitter, blah blah blah. Long story short because she decided to deal with it so last minute I should be receiving the check overnighted today by 10:30, but I don't know if the check is going to be good or bounce. Should I still call and cancel the action before I know if the check will actually clear? What should I do?

Request a continuance of the trial (or report a conditional settlement and state that the dismissal will be filed within 45 days. If no payment then you need to put trial back on calendar.)
