Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
Debt
I paid a collection agency for a debt owed to the original creditor. What type of letter can I send to the original creditor to have their entry on my credit report removed. Would like to have the collection agency removed as well (of course).
Thank YOu

Re: Debt
Its not real likely that either of them will remove the item from your credit report. Of course, they must report it as having been paid in full, but there is no requirement on their part that it be removed from the credit report so long as it is accurately reported. You can, of course, make that request of the creditor and their collection agency, however, they have an agreement with the credit report companies to accurately report all data, which means technically removing yours would be a violation of their agreement with the bureau. So, its not likely, but you can take a stab at it.
