Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

garnishment for birth of child in 91

Being garnished for the birth of my daughter back in 1991 at a county hospital. how do i find out if the sol are up? or if there was a judgement? The statements i recieved from the county office of revenus and recorvery don't give any info accept amount owed. There is not judgement date or break down of amounts charged. In '97/'98 i started receiving bills at home address for $50 a month. I never aggreed to make payments. If they can find me to collect why can't they find me to serve me a summons?

If your wages are being garnished, then your employer has some information which will help you begin to track down the history of this situation and figure out how it got to this point.

If, after making a decent effort, a plaintiff can't serve a defendant, the court can allow service by publication (where they post service in a newspaper). That may be what happened to you.
