Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

hospital billing wrong insurance company several times

I had a bone scan done in April of 2001. Apparently the hospital that did the procedure billed the wrong insurance co. I didn't receive a bill for a year & a half which is when I found out they'd billed the wrong ins. co. My question: Is there a time limit as to when I am not responsible for the bill? (Is a year & a half over the time I am responsible for the bill even though the hospital screwed up?)

The Statute of Limitations is 4 years on a written contract and two years for an oral contract. We would need to review your documents to advise you. Please contact our office at 714 363 0220, Monday, if you want to set up an appointment for consultation.

It is probably 4 years. On the other hand, the correct insurance company should still be liable, even if you are no longer insured by them.
