Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California
my mother used my identity and charged several bills under my name. my credit is now tainted. how can I restore my credit without placing my mother in jail?

You can attempt to dispute the debts with the credit reporting agencies, but they require a police report. You cannot file a police report without naming your mother if you know that she was the one who used your identity. She may not go to jail, but it is likely that she will be criminally charged for the use of your identity. Your only other option is to pay off her bills.
