Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

I have a question regarding the student loan. I have been delinquent on my student loans because I have been unemployed after my graduation and I have already used my deferment program, my question is, could the lender put a lien against my property? me and my brother inherited my parents house and I do not want to lose my family home because of my student loans.
