Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

Removing Collections item from Credit Report

I signed a 1-year lease for an apartment in Orange County, CA. One month, I was late on the payment, and they posted on my door a notice stating they had elected to declare the lease forfeit. I took this to mean that the lease was no longer in effect. I continued to pay my monthly rent on time. After a few months, I became fed up with the managment. I asked the on-site management to resovle issues - they didn't. I asked their parent company for assistance - no response. I got fed up and left one month before the anniversary of the lease. Since then they hae been trying to get me to pay for that one month. They kept the security deposit and are asking for the difference. Now they have put a Collections item on my creidt report. Other than this, I have perfect credit.

How do I get them to take it off?

credit reporting agencies that they include a

statement(around 250 words maximum)from you

in your credit file giving your version of the

facts related to this adverse collections item.
