Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in California

statute of limitations on charge off debt reporting ?

I am disabled. I entered an unsuccessful return to work program during wich time I incurred credit card debt. This was about seven years ago. I remain disabled and live on a fixed income. Will there ever be a time when these charged off credit card amounts will disapear from my credit profile ? Thank you'

Usually they stay on about seven years. You can write to each credit reporting agency and dispute each of the debts. If they can't verify them, they will then drop off.

If you have not made any payments on your existing credit card debt within the last 4-7 years, then you are not liable for repayment under California procedural law. You can dispute these charges with your credit bureaus at issue, and if the debts cannot be validated, then they must lawfully be discharged from your reports.
