Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

$8000 arrest warrant

I found out recently that I have an arest warrant out on me from 2004. iN ocT 2003 i HAD MY PURSE STOLEN. Whomever stole it was arrested for theft and gave them my license number. The pollice have the info. from my llicense. The only piece of evidence that did't match was the fact that I didn't have a ilghtening bolt tatooed on my neck. I woulld like to clear this up but I'm told that if I go down to the San Joses police dept. I will probably be taken to jail. The warrant is for $ 8000. Do I ned to look for a lawyer to go with me?I had been on deialysis for 12 years waiting for a kideny transplant that I finally received on 14 March 2007. I have a large well two wounds on my abdomen which must be dressed each day and I take many medicines so my kidney won't reject. I'm afraid I won't get the right medicine and care that I need right now. What'js the best route for me to take and if should need to go to the police dept. should I take a lawyer with me? Please advise.

Re: $8000 arrest warrant

You should retain an attorney to contact the San Jose Police department and discuss the arrest warrant with them. The police do not want to arrest the wrong person. If the attorney cannot arrange for the warrant to be recalled, arrangement for your to self surrender and appear in court the same day. Alternatively you could post bail and then appear in court to show that you are not the person that committed the crime. The alternative is to risk the police pulling you or a vehicle your are riding and then being arrested on the warrant.

Although this seems like a simple mix-up, you may want to have an attorney deal with this situation. This would be a bad situation for you. I may be able to help, please contact me at your earliest convenience.

Re: $8000 arrest warrant

Have Counsel contact the Court and CALID the offender and yourself (fingerprints) and the booking photo...very dangerous for you to get arrested so please do this as soon as possible. P.S. Unfortunately this is not uncommon and the Courts, DA, and police are used to the routine to clear your name.
