Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Forgery

In august of 99 i stole a check from my employer, i was later caught and I admitted to the charges. I went before a judge in 2001 and i was ordered to pay what i had stole and the charges would be dropped to a misdemeanor upon completion of community service.

I never paid back my ex employer and i never went back to my next scheduled court appt.

In dec of 2000 i again did something VERY stupid and in the act of despercation i illeagly took a check from my cousin and deposited into my bank acct.

she found out and filed an affidavit or fraud with her bank.

two sherrif's dectectives came to my house today asking for me re: a civil matter.. they said i have until monday july 16th @ 5pm to turn myself in.

I went and paid my ex employer upon recieving the news of the sherrif's presence....

What is going to happen when i turn myself in and how long do you think i will do and do you think i will get bail......???

will it look good that i turned myself in and paid the money i stole....??

Thank You

Re: Forgery

You're going to get a hand slap. That may mean that the judge will know that you took too long to pay back the money you stole. However, you'll probably get something like a couple of weekends cleaning the park as a public service and the payment of some fine to the court for the court's cost.

The maximum is much worse but this doesn't seem like it would call for the maximum. I think that the worst that you can expect is 10 days in the county jail.
