Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Is It Legal for Officer to Wear Gun When Off Duty?

A gentleman in our community is a police officer.

He wears his gun to our community board

meetings which, sometimes, involve heated

discussions (usually petty stuff). Since he is

off-duty, should he be wearing this gun?

He may wear his weapon while off duty.

If you're uncomfortable while he's in the room armed, either side with him all the time or get a permit to carry your own weapon. Then you'll be even. It takes a very brazen person to attack someone using deadly force that is also armed.

However, I doubt he'll lose control and kill someone over a sewer system. But you might want to make sure he's taking all of his prescription drugs that he may be on.
