A warrant for your arrest will be issued. You need to hire an attorney, soon, if you want to minimize the chance of going to jail. Feel free to contact me to discuss your rights and best course of action. It will help if your girlfriend supports you in this. The attorney's goal is to convince the DA not to file. You would do so yourself, so don't try.

Some sheriff's deputies would show up at your door with a warrant for your arrest. They would then take you to jail -- by force if necessary -- and hold you until you can be brought to the City Attorney's office.

You need to get a lawyer who can arrange for you to appear under better circumstances and who can represent you while you're there.
