I slapped my ex girl friend at college

I was at college at the time. I was trying to salvage atleast a friendship. Earlier that day I tried talking with her calmly. She had tried bringing a digital recorder. I figured I wasnt getting through. I then decided to leave and try again at later that day. I stood out side her class room. I waited for her to come out. She then walked with me and I told her how much she was hurting me while crying. We ended up at the Disabled resource center. Then she asked me in an angerly tone why I called her friend mentally disabled. He was fully phisically disabled and unable to speak unitelageably. Ended into a heated argument. I slapped her after some hesitation. I have spent three days in jail. I pleaded to no contest. And the court orderd DV classes for a year and 3 years for a restraining order. Was this the right move? Or was this excessive for my sentance?

I would have advised you to fight the charges and not plead, but then again I don't know all the facts. The sentence doesn't sound excessive, except now you have a criminal record (which you can have expunged after your probation is up).
