"Still open"? Expungement is available only for convictions on which you have completed all the terms of probation, except serving the entire term. You may be able to seek early termination for 'good cause' after at least one year, if all other things are completed. Joining the service would probably qualify to convince the judge. IF that is the case, feel free to contact me for the legal help you'll need.

If you are saying the case is still being 'handled' and not yet concluded, then you need legal defense. Contact me for that if desired.

If you are on probation you can file a motion with the court requesting a modification of probation and that the matter be expunged to allow you to join the army.

Make sure to reduce your felony conviction to a misdemeanor first before the expungement. I do not believe expungement will do anything for your ability to join the army but reduction will. Grand theft convictions, if you were not convicted to state prison, generally are reduceable.
