Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

warrant and extradition to another state

a friend was recently arrested in illinois for a warrant in california and is being held for 30 days (possibly for california's extradition). how can he find out what crime the warrant was for? (he was not told when he asked) it seems like a mistake, maybe a case of stolen identity from a wallet lost from a trip 18 months ago. thanks in advance.

The warrant must state the charges and give you some information regarding date and location of the alleged charges. He has a right to this information so that he can if he wishes to contest the valididty of the warrant.
