Re: citation

Thank you for your posting and your inquiry.

When you say you "went to jail" for a DUI, I am assuming you don't mean that you pled guilty for a DUI and were sentenced, but rather you were arrested. Is that correct?

Did you post bail? If so, or in some cases even without bail, you may have had to sign a promise to appear. In some courts here in Southern California, defendants are also released and then given a letter later, although this is the exception, not the rule.

Either you, or an attorney can contact the court, the police, and the District Attorney's office, and get information on filing, your court date, and any other information.

My only concern is that they may have either forgot to give you notice, or your notice was lost, and I do not want you to suffer a warrant for your arrest because you missed a court date. Even though you may have a great defense to a failure to appear charge, it's better to be pro-active and have someone check on this for you rather than be surprised by something later.

I hope that this information helps you, but if you have further questions, want more information, or feel that you need legal representation, please feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. It's my pleasure to assist in any way that I can.
