For any criminal charge, yes - you absolutely should have an attorney. If you go by yourself, the only thing that will happen is that the DA will offer you a plea to DUI. If you accept, you're convicted. You'll never know if you have factual or legal defenses or an ability to reduce the charges. Because this charge stays on your record forever and can be used against you as a prior conviction for 10 years, why would you accept the guilty plea without a fight?

The legality of the stop can be challenged, the blood alcohol results can be disputed... it all depends on the facts of your case. You'll never know without an attorney to review the facts and your defenses.

As a bonus, your attorney can make the court appearances on your behalf, saving you from having to take off from work and explaining to your boss you're going to court.
