Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Drove with a restricted license, a friend said she was driving and she got a DUI

Last night a friend and I were driving home on the freeway, we both had drinks that night, but her more so. I was driving on a restricted license. A car from behind went into the fast lane to pass us. He side swiped my carand just kept driving. we called the cops, and exited. I was scared about the restricted license so my friend sadi she would say that she was driving. The cops tested her breath for alcohol, and she was taken in for DUI. They tested me as well, and i was fine. What will happen if I tell the police what really happened? Will both of us go to jail for lying, and what happens to a person that is driving with a restricted a license? Is there anyway to drop any charges against my friend?

Giving false information to a police officer is a crime. You have dug yourself a hole. You need to consult with an attorney, and she needs to consult with a separate attorney regarding this matter. Trying to take care of this yourself could result in digging the hole much deeper than it already is.
