Legal Question in DUI Law in California

dui in placer county ca
a friend was arrested for dui but police reports show he was not driving at any time. this is his 6th dui in 26 yrs, but only 3rd in 10 yrs. they won't drop the dui charge. he has a public defender but not going well there either. is there any way to fight this? he also missed one day of court during the year this has been going on due to 1st stage pneumonia (with a dr note) he emailed court and called and notified them, got put back on calendar right away, but judge revoked bail anyway and placed him in custody.
