Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Record

I had a DUI almost 19 years ago. I was told it would drop off my record after 10. I was recently offered a job working for a city in California. I am now worried that this will still pop up in the background check and cost me the job.

Re: Record

You can attempt to expunge it, however, after ten years this can become difficult due to destruction of court documents. If you would like help with this please call my office at your earliest convenience.

Re: Record

It is unlikely that a 19 year old dui will prevent you from getting a job with the city. As far as the recommendation of having the dui expunged you can forget it. The penal code section covering expunging your record specifically exempts convictions for dui.
