.87 reading means brain deat many times over...so either its a typo on your part or perhaps you mean .08. If its the former, the machine has serious problem.

The breathalyzer requires periodic calibration to be effective, however.

The breathalyzer that is used to determine the amount of alcohol in the blood, is calibrated before each test.
