Legal Question in Entertainment Law in California

Can IMDB Print any personal info they want?

I was wondering if the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) has the legal right to print information such as your birth date even if you don't want them to? If not, what can one do to have them remove it (as they don't want to just via request).

Re: Can IMDB Print any personal info they want?

The First Amendment, in most cases, precludes courts from ordering somebody to not publish true information, whether it be IMDB and your DOB or the guy on Hollywood Boulevard selling maps to your house. If the information is sufficiently private you could sue for damages, but you would be more likely to succeed if the info were your SS or cell phone number. I am not aware that printing a true DOB, without more, is actionable.. If it is any consolation lots of DOBs of lots of people are available on Zabasearch.com .
