Can my Attorney demand an additional $5000 to continue my divorce case after 2 years and $30,000 already paid with a settlement court date of 12/14/06?

Re: Attorney of Record

That depends on your written retainer agreement with your attorney. That is your contract with your attorney. The other factors your mention - amount paid so far, the length of time your divorce has been pending, and upcoming settlement conference/court dates - mean nothing (unless the agreement says otherwise). It may also depend on the status of your account (e.g., do you ow your attorney fees or costs?)
