Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm Australian and my girlfriend American. We've been together for two years. Can we get married in a Californian courthouse at minimum cost. If so what would I need and what's the procedure for me to work legally? I have documentation of our relationship - phone bills, flights, emails. Any information would be appreciated.. Thank you

I'm not sure what if any residency requirements California has for marriage licenses, but they're minimal if any. So if you have been living together here for two years you have that covered, and yes you can get a civil marriage easily and inexpensively. I'm pretty sure all you would need is valid ID and show up at the marriage window of the County Clerk's office, to get married.

Getting permanent resident alien status with employment authorization based on the marriage, however, is a WHOLE other story, and that is a very specialized question for Immigration attorneys. You will have to re-post it there. It is not considered a Family Law matter. I was, however, able to find a decent summary here: http://shusterman.com/greencardsthroughmarriage.html
