Changing childs middle name

I have full custody (physical and legal)of my ex- husband and I children. Can I legally change the middle name of one of the children by myself ? (It's my ex's dads name who abused my son and me) and I do not want it anymore due to this.

If you have sole legal custody, then yes.

I disagree with Mr. Lemmons. Changing ones name legally requires notification of parents and siblings. Under the current circumstances any change that is not court ordered may result in some problems.
