Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Custody

The grandparents of my son have filed for guardianship of my son after they found out I filed to request the information on the where abouts of my son. I had not seen him in over 5 years, and want to be an active father in his life. Although since I had no contact with the mother in over 5 years I did not know that the grandparents were raising my son, since his mother moved to Sountheren california as we live in northern and so does my son and grand parents. My question is what are my rights as his father to not have them become his legal guardian? my wife and I are able to provide and love him. We have been paying his child support and also his medical coverage.

Re: Child Custody

First, you want to file objections to the petition for guardianship. At the same time, petition the court for custody and visitation. You should consult with an attorney. Don't try doing this alone.
