Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support

My ex husband was located after non payment of court ordered child support. Will I still be able to collect arrears when she turns 18. Will I have to give my 18 year old the arrears. I paid all of his share throught th years and I am still a single mom. He feels he does not have pay arrears to me.

Yes, you should be able to collect the arrears after age of 18 however the more time that passes the more possibility that any delay may prevent you from collecting. You need to act on this quickly. Child support is owed to the custodial parent, not the child.

Good luck to you!

Re: Child Support

You can collect practically until the end of time, but you should act promptly. You are also entitled to 10 interest on each payment from when it was due until when it is paid.
