Legal Question in Family Law in California

Child Support in India

My ex wife and I got divorced in US and have a child custody and support order here for our 1 child. We are both on work visa. If I move back to India and my ex wife and child stay here in the US, what happens to the child support order. Do we have to file a new case in India for child support? What are the laws on child support calculation in India?

I am not familiar with the law in India, but would expect that the California order for child support would be sent to India. There it would be registered or otherwise filed with the court and then the court in India would enforce the child support order.

I am surprised the custody order does not address this, since you are both here on work visas. There may be simple way to deal with this, but it depends on what your goals are. If you are in my area and want to discuss the details, feel free to call me.
