Legal Question in Family Law in California

Childs legal age.

I would like to know if my 16 year old has the legal right to decide where to live. In California with her parent or in Michigan with the other parent? I am told that my child can decide where to live without my consent... is this true? if not then how can I show my child what her rights are?

Re: Childs legal age.

It is not true. The child NEVER gets to decide. The court will consider the child's wants but the child does not decide.

At 16 the court will give strong weight to the desire of the child. Probably the court will allow the child to live where she wants, unless there is great harm to come to the child. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
