Communications between a party and opposing Counsel

In the state of California, family law practices, is it permissible for a party that is in pro per to have communication with the opposing party's counsel, be it written correspondence, in person conversation, or telephone conversation?

Since most local rules have a meet and confer requirement for motions or trials it is not only permissible, it is mandatory. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
