Legal Question in Family Law in California

I got divorce in 2004. I have 2 boys and I share custody with my ex-husband. He is selling drugs and he is not helping me with half of the boys expenses like the judge stated on the divorce papers, and he is verbally abusive to the boys. The boys don't want to see him anymore they are afraid of him. I don't know what to do. He keeps saying that he is not going to give the boys money anymore, he did not help much in the past but now he said he will not help anymore. I work part time, I attend the university full time and I live in a low income apartment complex. Is there anything I can do that it won't be too costly? He is not paying for braces, gasoline for weekly allergy appointments out of town, clothes etc.

If he is not financialy supporting his children then you should contact the local child support agency and open up a case with them to start child support proceedings. The first priority is that the children are supported so they don't have to rely on the public welfare to support the children.

For self represented individuals you can consult with the family law facilitator self help center at your local court house.

As always please consult a local attorney prior to taking legal action. Good luck. Also please check out my Santa Clara County Family Lawyer blog.
