Legal Question in Family Law in California

Divorce

I was married in 1999 in Barbados and now live in California - I am a US Citizen and my wife is Canadian. Can we get a divorce in California or do we need to go through the Barbadian courts?

In a general sense, if you have resided in California continually for the past 6 months, and a particular county for the last 3 months, you are able to file for Dissolution of Marriage in California.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
