domestic partnership

i filed a document with the state of california regarding a domestic partnership with my girlfriend (opposite sex)......is it legal , i am not over 62

According to the statute, no. However, in my opinion, according to the constitution, yes. I believe the statute discriminates against people due to their heterosexual orientation as well as their marital status.
