Legal Question in Family Law in California

Domestic Partners/Parents

My domestic partner and I have a 4 year old son. We have been living together for 4.5 years. For the past 4 years we have filed joint tax returns. He is the sole financial supporter. He is starting a business, I function as wife and mother. If we slpit, what would be his legal responsibilty to myself and our son? Should I stay with him a certain number of years to insure our being taken care of financially?

Re: Domestic Partners/Parents

Without marriage or a written agreement you would have a right to child support. You would have no right to spousal support or an interest in the business he is starting.
