Legal Question in Family Law in California

Ex drug addict trying to obtain custody of children

My ex is a recoving drug addict of 4 months. He is taking me to court to get custody of my children that I've raised. There is a restraining order for domestic violence against him. He is allowed supervised visits. I am keeping a journal because I was verbally harrassed in court. I have also noticed that when he is with our children he ask my daughter to bring things from home. I look like the bad parent because I was told specifically not to do this. He is responsible to entertain the children. How do I submit a journal of his activities to the court? I have to pay $80 dollars to a counselar to supervise his visits because My family and I are being harassed by him and his family members are gang members? How can I plea to the judge to make him pay for his visits? He makes $24 hour. The father is a gang member and I'm scared for my children but it seems the court wants their father in their life no matter what possible danger they might encounter from being with him.
