Legal Question in Family Law in California

My husband left me 4 months ago. He stated that he took a class to learn how to file for divorce without an attorney. He stated that he completed paperwork and filed it through the courthouse. However, I asked him why I had not been served. He stated that he needs to pay an extra $50 for that service. So, my question is - how do I find out if he did file for divorce and if he did, should I not be served so that I can contest it?

You can go on-line to sdcourt.ca.gov and look up your name on the case list or can go to court to pull a file. If you call my office I would give you a free telephone consultation and look it up while you are on the line. Good Luck, Pat McCrary
