Legal Question in Family Law in California

Me and my ex went to mediation, an agreement was reached. The mediator typed up the agreement, we went before the judge, we added a few more things with regards to childcare and healthcare, the judge signed and I was instructed to file it with the courts...which I totally forgot to do. That was about two years ago. I still have it...is it too late to file it? Is it not any part of the record now? Do I have to start the whole process over again?

I've never heard of a judge signing something that was not filed with the court by the court clerk. You should check to see if it was indeed filed, as you may have misheard or misunderstood what the judge told you.

If this was Sacramento County, it was your responsibility to make sure that the blue stipulation was properly prepared into a finalized order to be submitted to the judge. Since it has been so long, there may have been other orders that have superseded it. You may wish to speak to the Family Law Facilitator's Office or feel free to contact my office as I practice in Sacramento County.
